其中九个背景将角色与第四章中介绍的魔法派系联系起来。这些背景描述了与特定派系相关的训练经历，但它们并非加入该派系或成为其成员的必要条件。
第十个背景，魔宠训练家，则适用于任何伴随魔法动物伙伴长大的角色。
